Well, fashion bug could possibly be pissed at me.
when I got the job, they told me "we need you to work days, nights, and saturdays." and I thought "ok, that means it's a pretty flexible job. They need me whenever, so having another job should be easy to coordinate. I can work days at fashion bug the days I'm not working at Getgo. Cool."
But, Fashion Bug calls me and says "can you come in earlier than the 23rd to fill out paperwork and get put in the system? what about monday 10-noon?" Yeah, that works-I can get put in the system, and then make it back home in time for the Geauga Transit to get me to Ravenwood. In the process of figuring out when I'm coming in, I say "well, i'm starting at getgo on tuesday, so I can't come in then. They said they're willing to work around you, of course."
But as it turns out, that could well be a problem, since what they really want is for me to work days, at least for the vast majority. My job at getgo is a day shift, 6 or 7 in the morning to early afternoon. That really won't change, I don't think. "day cashier" is what they told me when they hired me. And it's full time. So I'll be there a lot.
Now I think this is their own fault. If they wanted me for days, they should have told me days, or at *least* that what they mostly wanted me for was days. How they spoke to me was that they just needed me, and that there wasn't a need of one shift over another. I said I was probably going to be getting another job. They may have forgotten this, I don't know. But I know I said it. Had they made clear exactly when I was wanted, I could have worked around it with no problems.
As it is though, if I have to pick between the two, I'll go to get go, no matter how much I love sewing and clothes and shit like that. Get go's full time, part of a union, more than willing to work with another job, and probable have benefits as well. (I don't know what they're paying yet, but I'm willing to bet it's more than minimum wage, especially since I'm full time.) Fashion Bug's part time, no benefits, crappy pay, and not flexible at *all*. Yep, I'd choose Getgo over Fashion Bug. If it weren't for the paycheck, I'd just say fuck it, since they're already being a huge pain in the ass, they're turning out to not be flexible in the least (something I need with any job considering how much outside crap I've got going on), I'm not being paid that much, and I don't know how much they're going to like me taking the 6 faire saturdays off. But I need the paycheck, so I can't say fuck it, not before they do.
But I need those saturdays. Those I'm not willing to give up. I was bouncing off the walls without faire last summer (I only managed to come twice, and one of those I was there for only 3 hours since I was freezing my ass off in the rain, cloak doing nothing. Wearing only a dancing bra and a skirt will do that to a person though, especially when all the shelter is taken.)
If the people would be a bit more reasonable, they may like me better. But I need those 6 saturdays, I need a flexible schedule (and one that's willing to work with another job), and I need people that aren't going to drive me as crazy as my family does. And as nice as these people are, I think they're very capable of doing that-inside the workplace at least. Outside of it, I think we'd get along fine. But inside, I dunno, now that I'm getting more introduced to them.
I'm still going to give it a shot, since I need the paycheck. If they don't want me, fine, I'll go somewhere else.
But yeah, they may be pissed at me.
